Managers and leaders have long recognized the value of coaching as a tool to promote development and foster engagement. John Blakey and Ian Day co-authors of Challenging Coaching a provocative book that suggests that for too long coaching approaches have shied away from adopting a more challenging stance – a stance that can provoke greater performance and unlock deeper potential in business leaders and their teams. In this workshop leaders are introduced to a new approach to coaching that can help them adopt this more challenging stance when coaching their direct reports. While utilizing accepted coaching models this approach also draws on the FACTS model that emphasizes feedback, accountability, courageous goals, tension and system thinking within the coaching relationship.
