Brain science and the performance of diverse teams – 2 hours
We all generally accept that the inclusion of multiple perspectives can improve problem solving and creativity, reduce mindless conformity and raise the overall combined intelligence of the team. At the same time, it is widely recognized that accidental, unintended, subtle and completely unconscious choices, made by everyone, all the time play a strong role in impairing the building and running of effective diverse teams. The latest brain science has gone a long way towards helping us understand the nature of cognitive bias and how it can be mitigated. During this workshop, participants are introduced by Dr Felice Tilin to the latest understandings on the nature of cognitive bias and strategies that can be employed to mitigate its impact on the effectiveness of diverse teams in the workplace. They are faced with scenarios reflecting typical situations that can be impacted by cognitive bias and work on crafting mitigating strategies.
